My name is Reilly “Victory” Martin. I am from Austin, and I am currently a Junior at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. My interests primarily reside in Writing, Directing, and editing video and Film works with a side of Animation and performance fries. I primarily create comedic-in-tone narrative works that explore what happens when people aren't ready for something to happen, yet something happens anyway. Reluctance and pushback against it and is something that defines my work. A lot of my stories start small in scale, and spiral outwards as fuses shorten, veils thin, and you just dont see a way forward where you can act normal anymore, emphasizing absurd situations with real stakes and emotions involved. I like to shoot on digital, and employ loose documentary tactics to emphasize realism, improvisation, and natural cinematography. I am influenced by travel shows, the Canadian improvisational arts, and WWE wrestling. My last project was a feature script about a Robot with amnesia who becomes obsessed with lighthouse upkeep, and I am currently in pre-production for my thesis short film called QUIET THE WINTER HARBOR, which is about a (mediocre) painter looking for inspiration who falls in love with a French sailor, who, unbeknownst to her, has some European tricks and keeps them hidden up his striped sleeve.
